The IT MDI-Energy ICET infrastructure package aims to free us from our dependence on fossil fuels for energy and transport and open paths to fully sustainable lifestyles.
We have been in the post oil era for 28 years and the realities have begun to bite. Plan A, “Business-As-Usual”, is no longer applicable. In the words of Matthew Simmons, world leading oil industry investment banker, “the world does not have a ‘Plan B’”. We can now claim that we do. The key is to acknowledge that to tap into the massive amounts of wasted energy requires the adoption of a decentralised networked technology package that can match quality and quantity of energy supplies with a range of uses.
One Energy Source
Sunshine. Every year the Earth receives 8,000 times more energy than humankind is ever likely to require for sustenance and development. Solar energy is the intended prime source of energy for the new MDI thermodynamic cycle.
Two Core Technologies
IndraNet Fractal Mesh (FraMe) advanced communication networks. Symmetrical, high bandwidth. High performance download AND upload speeds. Low latency for superior gaming and Web 2 experiences. Easy to expand. Low costs to deploy, operate and maintain.
Enables the highly competitive deployment and intelligent management of distributed solar-based power generation and supply, networked transport of goods and people, and advanced affordable broadband communications.
MDI Thermodynamic Cycle
Incorporates a number of breakthroughs that enable efficiency levels to move from less than 20% to over 80% in small point-of-use decentralised units and in vehicles.
Current models burn a small amount of fuel in a heating device external to the MDI Engine. Later models are intended to use only heat derived indirectly from the sun.
Three Intelligently Managed Networked Infrastructures into One
There is a large emerging global demand for alternatives to the current mess. The IT MDI ICET package aims to introduce a new class of infrastructure for the cost-efficient transport of data, energy, goods and people.
Communications
IndraNet FraMe networks move data. Customer premises equipment (CPEs) called “minders” in homes and work places connect wirelessly to each other to form a mesh. One intelligently managed mesh infrastructure enabling multiple independent and secure private networks. No data caps. Affordable real broadband. Democratic access regardless of customer size, means or location (e.g. rural versus metropolitan). Regain control on your end of the Internet.
Power
Uninterruptible, high efficiency power generation combined with air-conditioning and hot water production at your home and/or work place, remotely managed through the IndraNet FraMe and providing sustainable independence from the grid (IT MDI iPower).
Regain control of your power.
Transport
Cars, vans, trucks, buses, trains, planes.
Moving people. Moving goods.
High quality, high efficiency, low cost vehicles. The first demonstration MDI car is scheduled to arrive in Australia in early 2008. Models running on about 2 litres of fuel per 100/km and compliant with stringent Australasian and European safety and performance standards are being prepared for release. In later models, consumption is planned to decline to 1 litre of petrol equivalent per 100 km, or less, through direct and indirect solar energy harvesting.
Regain control of your mobility.

Four Innovations make the new class of infrastructure possible
- Compressed gas as an energy storage and carrier, with the primary energy input being external to the engine
- MDI’s Active Chamber doubles engine efficiency relative to internal combustion engines
- Advanced magneto-caloric quantum mechanic effect to reduce intake temperature and further enhance energy efficiency
- Non-dual fractal mesh network architecture and related software
No internal combustion
